How to Power Reverse Lights with Hopkins 4-Way Wiring Harness on 2001 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
Does this have a reverse wire circuit?

Expert Reply:
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM42465 referenced in your question, which is confirmed to fit your 2001 Jeep Cherokee, will activate the basic signal lights on the trailer (running lights, turn signals, and brake lights).
In order to activate the reverse circuit, you will just need to convert the 4-Way to a 5-Way with an adapter like the Tow Ready # 20036. The 4-Way end of the adapter will plug right into the 4-Way on the Jeep, then the blue wire will be connected to the reverse circuit wire on the vehicle.
I have attached the installation instructions for these products that you can use for reference.
