Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side. You will have to remove some interior paneling to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins plug in, simple view wiring harness, with a 4 pull flat trailer connector. This product fits a 1997 to 2001 Jeep Cherokee. It's going to provide a 4 way flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power the trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5 pull, 6 pull and 7 pull adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It is going to come with a dust cap for the 4 way flat plug.
That way you can cover up those connection points when your plug is not being used. The unit also features protective connection terminals to resist corrosion and last a long time. This box right here, this is going to be the included tail light converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The unit's going to connect very quickly and easily.
You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. Just locate the connection points in the rear cargo area and plug in your connectors. They're are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. they're going to plug in, snap lock together for a nice tight, secure fit. Once you have that done, you'll need to mount to converter box. You can do that with the included cable ties.
Once your installation is complete, the 4 way connector is going to be stowed in your rear cargo area. Plenty of wiring here, so that way you can pull it out of the back of the vehicle and use it whenever you need to.
