Fastway Weight Distribution System for Trailer with Unloaded Tongue Weight of 565 lb
Question:
I have a tongue weight of 565 for the trailer I’m purchasing, looking through the choices for hitches I’m seeing 600 tongue and 800 tongue weights. The trailer max weight is 7200. I’m seeing that if you get the higher rating it will also make the ride more stiff. Should I go with the lighter or heavier. Looking at the fastway e2 600 and 800 vs the equalizer 600 or 1000

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
So your tongue weight could be anywhere from 700 to 1,000 lbs most likely. That also depends on how much you load the trailer. You really need to determine the tongue weight. If it's going to be on the heavier end you'll want the part # FA92-00-1200 which is for 800 to 1,200 lbs tongue weight but if you have a tongue weight lower you'd want the # FA92-00-1000 which has tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs.
