The Timbren and Sumo rear-axle helper springs we offer for the 2017 Ram 1500, such as Timbren # TDR1500DQ and SuperSprings # SSR-307-47, both work the same way. They replace the factory bump stops with rubber (Timbren) or urethane foam (SuperSprings) jounce springs that, unlike those simple bump stops, provide progressive resistance when under load. As the load on them increases so too does their resistance. The factory bump stop is really just a fail safe, rather than an enhancement to ride quality.

Installation is slightly simpler with the Timbren kit and many more of our customers have shared their feedback on the performance of the Timbrens (more than a thousand opinions) as compared to the SuperSprings. The Timbren natural rubber springs are highly-rated and they cost less too.

Timbren rear-axle kit # TDR1500DQ fits both 2WD and 4WD trucks but does not fit the regular cab version nor trucks with the factory Air Suspension system. Generally the Timbren springs can handle more weight. The kit referenced provides load support for up to 8600-lbs, making it better for towing heavy cargo loads. Timbren also offers kit # TDR1500DS which is rated to 6000-lbs and which DOES fit the regular cab (without factory air suspension).

The choice really comes down to how much load support you need. If only moderate rear support for a trailer's tongue weight is the goal then the 1500-lb-rated SuperSprings # SSR-307-47, which also fits both 2WD and 4WD trucks - all cab types with or without factory air suspension - would be the better choice.
