Recommended Roof Cargo Box for 2016 Honda CR-V

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 Honda CRV EX that I am going to have the Honda rails and crossbars installed on. Which cargo carrier will be the best fit? Thanks,

The best roof mounted cargo box for your 2016 Honda CR-V will depend a bit on how much cargo you plan to store inside the unit. With that being said, I recommend taking a look at the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y95AV. This is a really nice cargo box that will provide you with 16 cubic feet of space. It features a dual-side-opening lid so that you can access the stored cargo from either side of the vehicle and an integrated Same Key System that will lock and secure your gear. The built-in, adjustable clamps and flat base allow for a quick and simple installation.

There are a couple of quick measurements you will want to take on your CR-V's roof rack to make sure this will work without issue. The cargo box will fit any roof rack crossbars as long as they are no more than 3-1/2 inches wide or 1-11/16 inches tall. You will just want to verify that the factory bars you mentioned do not exceed these dimensions.

The final measurement you will want to take has to do with the rear hatch on your Honda CR-V. Once you have the roof rack installed, you can take a measurement from the center of the front crossbar back to the line where the roof and hatch meet. For the rear hatch to fully open with this cargo box mounted, this distance will need to be at least 47 inches.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this product so you can get a better look at its individual features. I have also included a link that will take you directly to our available selection of roof cargo boxes that you can look through.
