Recommendation for Adding an Extension Between 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 and Boat Trailer
Question:
2010 Ram 1500 w/factory tow package I pull a single PWC trailer and wish to extend the hitch by 3 - 4 to keep the rear tow vehicle wheels out of salt water. The HE 18 isnt long enough. Suggestions please

The Extension # HE18, is the longest extension we have. The 18 inches is from the center of the hitch pin hole on the hitch out to the center of the hitch pin hole on the receiver portion of the extension. You would then have a ball mount in the end of the receiver which will add even more length.
But there is an issue that you will need to be aware of. Using a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. Using an adapter or extension is acceptable provided that you do not exceed the reduced capacity when the extension is being used.
If you need a longer ball mount to add more length, we have several extra long ball mounts like # BH20. This ball mount will add another 13-1/4 inches. That is the most length available. If you go ahead with this set up, I recommend to only use when backing the trailer in the water. The rest of the time, I advise taking the extension out of the equation.
The Titan Hitch Box Extension and Reducer, # RP45292, is designed to fit Titan trailer hitches with a 2-1/2 inch receiver opening. Currently, there are no Titan trailer hitches available for a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500.
