Question:
I bought Item # TK90160 and the wiring kit. I can get trailer brakes only by applying the slide, not from the foot pedal.

On your Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 it sounds like the red wire coming from the brake pedal switch to the unit is not sending power. I recommend checking that wire using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 for function. If you are getting signal on that wire, then you will want to adjust your controller while in an empty parking lot.
You may also want to note that you need to be moving for the brake pedal to give a reading with this controller because it is a proportional controller. It utilizes an internal deceleration sensor to assist with braking pressure. The dial on the left side may also need to be adjusted for your brake pedal intensity. I've attached the installation details to assist.
