How to Check for Excessive Play in Weight Distribution Setup
Question:
Hi is the hitch meant to be loose on the tongue shank or should I be doing something about it thanks

A weight distribution hitch like the Eaz Lift 600 has a shank portion that slips into the hitch receiver opening and this can be secured with an anti-rattle device like the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer # BX88224. The shank suspends the head assembly, which includes the hitch ball and possibly also a friction anti-sway ball to secure an anti sway arm like # 83660.
If the head assembly seems too loose on the shank then I would check that your pin hardware that holds the head in place is not worn. Worn parts can allow some play but visual inspection should tell you whether replacement is needed.
