Air Bag Helper Springs to Soften Ride of 2016 Ford F-150 with Timbren Jounce Springs

Question:

My vehicle is a 2016 F-150 2WD, stock height with 17inch factory rims and 255/70 Michelins from the factory. I installed the Timbrens without using the spacers and only have about 1/4inch clearance between the plate and spring. Its resulted in a much harsher EMPTY ride. Any suggestions?

Because the Timbren helper springs are so firm they can create a stiffer ride when the truck bed is empty on your 2016 Ford F-150. There isn't a way around that short of replacing the Timbren springs with air bags. With air bags you could adjust the amount of air which will in turn change how stiff the ride is. Less air will allow the stock suspension to travel more. More air will stiffen things up.

If you are interested in air bags the most economical option is from Air Lift # AL59570 but this kit is not compatible if you have a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch installed. The next step up from that is # AL57268 which is what I recommend due to the higher weight capacity and the fact that it would not interfere with a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch.
