Recommended Trailer Hitch and Cargo Carrier for a Jayco 19RD Travel Trailer
Question:
Dear Sir/Madam: Jan 27 I have a Jayco 19RD Travel trailer and would like to install a 2 inch hitch on the rear frame so a cargo platform can be attached. I have a Honda E2000 generator 40 pounds and 20Litre gas container 40 pounds. I would like to have the trailer hitch with two 2 inch receivers to help keep the platform from rocking up and down. I would then install a small diamond plate aluminum box on the platform to keep the two items secure. I would like to know if you have such a set up.

I have exactly what you will need to use a cargo carrier on the back of your Jayco 19RD Travel Trailer. For this I recommend using the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs part # 13703. This hitch has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity, 2" receiver tube opening, and fits trailers with frame rails spaced 22" to 72" apart. The hitch can either be bolted or welded in place.
For a cargo carrier to attach to this hitch and house your generator and gas tank, I recommend the Pro Series Solo Cargo Carrier part # PS1040100. This cargo carrier has a usable platform space of 47-3/4" long x 31-3/4" wide and is rated for use with up to 400 lbs of cargo. I also recommend using an anti-rattle hitch pin to help stabilize the carrier like part # 63232 which also comes with a lock and two keys.
I have attached a sample install video of the hitch and a review video fo the carrier for you as well.
