Parts Needed To Replace Brakes And Hubs On 2 Axle Alcom Car Hauler
Question:
Unfortunately the axles no longer have any stickers. The larger bearing is barely readable and says L68149. The smaller one is not readable. The brake is 4 studs and the hub is 5 studs but currently no way to accurately measure the pattern. Can't measure the small bearing either at the moment. Suspect it is 3500 axle BUT the sticker on the trailer says something else. Thanx for your help.

Alcom trailers come in all kinds of sizes and configurations and so you will need to choose the correct brake and hub assemblies for your particular trailer. For example, one style of Alcom tandem axle trailers have 3,500-lb axles with 10 inch brakes. If this describes your trailer then Electric Trailer Brake Kit Item # AKEBRK-35-SA includes left and right hand assemblies and works with 3,500-lbs axles could fit your needs. Likewise, a replacement for your trailer hubs and drums common to Alcom trailers could be Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, Item # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K, that fits a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.
The easiest way to find the right brakes and hubs is to find the weight capacity of your axles, your bearings sizes, and your bolt pattern. The weight capacity of your axles will be on a tag on your axle. The bearings sizes are stamped in your bearings or you can measure them with a digital caliper like Item # PTW80157 (help article on bearings attached). The bolt pattern will be on your wheels/hubs.
If you want to send me your information and/or pictures, I will be happy to recommend the correct brakes as well as hubs and drums for your Alcom car hauler.
I am attaching a picture that shows how to measure a drum that could help. I am also attaching additional information and videos that could help you with your project.
