Replacing the Brakes on a 1966 Airstream Travel Trailer

Question:

Hi, Will these brakes fit a 66 Airstream? I cannot find any info on the bolt centers or axle hole diameter. The current brakes are the original Kelsy-Hayes. Thank you.

The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-112-113 is designed for 6,000 lb axles that use a 5 bolt brake mounting flange. They are compatible with 14.5" to 16" diameter wheels. As long as your trailer has these requirements then the brakes will work well for you. Unfortunately, we do not have information as to what braking assemblies your 1966 Airstream trailer came with therefore you will need to go out to your trailer and physically count the bolt holes on the brake flange and measure the axles/wheel diameter.

When replacing the brakes on a trailer you will always want to use new hardware. If you need new hardware you can use part # 7-5 for the bolts and part # 38LW for the washers.
