How To Determine Function of LED trailer Wiring that Uses Non-Standard Colors
Question:
I have new LED trailer lights to replace the older lights. The new lights have three wires : red, green and black. The old lights have yellow, brown white and green wires. The old lights used the white wire for ground to the trailer. Do I assume the new LED lights have an internal ground to the mounting bolts? Which of the colored wires do I connect to the original trailer wiring for each side of the trailer? Inside the lights the red wire has RAinch near it. The green wire has BW +inch near it. The black wire has BW -inch near it. I will sincerely appreciate help with my problem, Thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:
Since you can't damage LED lights by wiring them backwards I would recommend using a vehicle battery to test the wires of the lights so that you can determine what function they perform. Touch the wires in various configurations to the terminals of the battery till you determine which is ground, which is the lower intensity illumination, and which is the higher.
Then once you figure that out wire them accordingly to the trailer wiring. Since the colors you mentioned for the light aren't standard colors we aren't going to be able to tell you what they are without testing.
