Base Plates for 2011 Honda Odyssey

Question:

Thanks for the answer but it doesn't get to the heart of my question. I haven't purchased a towbar yet so my question is, betwee, the Roadmaster or Blue Ox baseplate options, which is easiest for me to install?

For your 2011 Honda Odyssey, there are mixed reviews as to flat towing ability. Honda says it is not towable, but many people are towing it, so you will be operating outside of the manufacturer's warranty.

If you don't have the touring model with transmission cooler, the Roadmaster # 1564-1 is a fit. If you don't have the touring model, then the # 1564-3 is a fit. If you are using a Roadmaster tow bar, I recommend one of these tow options.

If you are using a Blue Ox tow bar, then # BX2255 will work with all trim packages and styles.

If you want more components for your towing system, let me know and I'd be happy to give you the wiring, braking system, tow bar, and adapters needed as well. Let me know if you'd like help.

For ease of installation, I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2255. Since you will also need a tow bar, I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 which comes with the necessary safety cables. I also suggest the Blue Ox Base-Plate and Receiver Lock Kit # BX88177 to give you further security and matching locks for your hitch, adapter, and baseplates. For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This wiring kit gives you a clean connection on the front of your van and will utilize the factory wiring of your van while protecting your factory electrical system. It will give you a clean look. For your braking system, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This product is easy to install and gives you the reliability you will desire. It requires only adjusting at installation and then becomes a simple plug and play system. The # RM-88400 relay is also required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn. The last thing you need is the high-low adapter. I've attached a link to all your options as well as an article to help you determine the correct fit based on your specific motorhome for your 2011 Honda Odyssey. Let me know if you have further questions.
