Recommended Weight Distribution System to Control Sway on 7800 lb Travel Trailer

Question:

I own a 2005 suburban 1500 4x4 and want to tow a 26 ft travel trailer that weighs 7800 lbs. What sway bar kit would you recommend? Thank you

For your 7800 lb travel trailer, you most likely have a tongue weight range between 780 and 1170 lbs as trailers typically have 10-15% of their total weight as tongue weight. Based on that, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37120ET. In addition to the tongue weight of the trailer, you also need to account for any cargo behind the rear axle of the Suburban. This weight distribution system is rated for that combined total tongue weight between 800 and 1200 lbs. Ideally when loaded you want to be in the middle of that total tongue weight range so if you have a weight on the higher end of the spectrum, you may want to bump up to the next system # EQ37140ET rated for 1,000 to 1,400 lbs total tongue weight.

This system comes with the hitch ball as well as the pin and clip needed. However, you will need a thin walled socket like # ALL643216 or # EQ70-00-4800 to install the hitch ball. I've attached videos and an article to assist.
