For your 2016 Dodge Durango, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 for a brake controller. This controller is a proportional controller so it will help your trailer to brake at the same time and with the same amount of braking pressure you hit the pedal in your Durango. This controller has a really nice LCD screen to allow you to know what you need to at a quick glance. It also has presets to make towing easy.
If you have a factory 7 way, then you will simply need the wiring harness # TK93VR to install under your dash. The wire harness is to the left of the steering column taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. If you do not have the factory 7 way, then you will need wiring kit # 5506 to complete your wiring. I've attached a video to assist with this installation.
