We do have everything you need to install a trailer brake controller on your 2003 Mazda B3000, however this truck does not feature a factory brake controller port.

Starting with the brake controller itself, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is an excellent, proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your truck. It features an easy to read digital display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. I have attached a short video demonstration on this controller along with the written installation instructions that you can check out.

The wiring items you need to install the controller will depend on what, if anything, you already have installed on the truck. If you do not have an existing connector at the rear of the vehicle, you will need to start with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118325. This custom-fit harness will install by connecting directly to the built-in port located under the vehicle on the driver side.

From there, you will need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything you need to install a fully functional 7-Way from the above 4-Way connector, along with the additional wiring needed to install the brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.

Then, it sounds like you are looking for a Curt ball mount with the appropriate drop to tow your trailer level. In order to choose the best ball mount, you will want to take a couple of quick measurements. With the truck parked on level ground, measure from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver. Then with the trailer on level ground, measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. The ball mount you choose should have a drop closest to the difference between your two measurements.

For example, the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2 Inch Ball # C45036 features a 2 inch drop. I have attached a short video demonstration on this product along with a link that will take you to our available selection of ball mounts that you can look through.
