Availability of a 2 Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2000 Honda Accord
Question:
Im looking at the bolt on tow hitch for a 2000 Honda Accord 4 door. And was wondering if you make a tow hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening? The bike rack I have is for a 2 inch opening?

I do have a possible solution for you to use your bike rack with your 2000 Honda Accord, but unfortunately there are no 2 inch trailer hitch receiver available for your Accord.
We have one hitch available, the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11290. This has a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) of 2,000 lbs and a Tongue Weight (TW) of 200 lbs. According to page 167 of your owner's manual your Accord can handle up to 850 lbs. This includes all occupants, cargo, accessories, and the tongue weight if you are towing a trailer. This means that if you could potentially have a 200 lb TW rating depending on what you have in your vehicle.
To use your bike rack with this trailer hitch you will need to use an adapter that is compatible with a Class I hitch that has a 1-1/4" receiver. I recommend the Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD. The only bad thing about an adapter is that it reduces your TW by 50%. So the most TW you could possibly have is 100 lbs depending on what is in/on your vehicle. Please keep in mind that a Class I trailer hitch is only able to safely carry 2 bikes. Your bike carrier and your bikes must total less than 100 pounds. You will also need to use a support strap # 18050 which is required by Curt when using unsupported loads like bike racks or cargo carriers. If you plan on carrying more than 2 bikes, I can help you explore other options.
Another drawback to using an adapter is that it will exaggerate any play in the hitch receiver. I recommend using the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125 to help reduce any play in your hitch receiver. You may also want to consider a Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 to help deter theft of your setup.
