Transporting Dirt Bike with Class III Trailer Hitch on 2006 BMW X3
Question:
Hello, I am looking to attach a dirt bike carrier onto this hitch. My bike weights approx 250 lbs and the carrier weights 56 lbs. I am worried Im cutting it too close for comfort? My car is 2006 BMW X3 3.0i.

The Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75371 referenced in your question, which is confirmed to fit your 2006 BMW X3, features a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. As long as you remain under this capacity with the combined weight of your carrier and dirt bike (which it sounds like you will), you will not have an issue transporting your bike.
If you do not yet have a carrier, I recommend looking at the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033. This is a really nice carrier that will safely support 1 dirt bike and features an included ramp that can be positioned on either side of carrier for simple loading and unloading. A special bracket will hold the ramp in place on the end of the carrier during transit. The carrier itself weight right around 50 pounds. I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can check out.
I also commend adding cab buckle straps like the ProGrip #317-412080 to help secure the bike in place and our etrailer.com Hitch Receiver Lock # e98882 to help deter theft of your investment.
