There really isn't a specific width (or thickness) of a winch mounting plate to use with a 12,000 lb winch. You just want to choose one that has a mounting bolt hole pattern that is compatible with your winch.

The Bulldog Winch Hitch Mounted Winch Mounting Plate with Handles - 2" x 2" Hitch # BDW20011 has bolt holes that are 10" by 4-1/2" on center and 6-1/2" by 4-1/2" on center which is a very common measurement. Just for reference this has a 1/4" thick plate. The Bulldog mounting plate is made for winches up to 12.5k pounds, but the capacity is considered to be whatever the capacity of the hitch that it is attached to.

If this doesn't have the correct bolt hole mounting pattern then you can filter through our linked selection or let me know what your mounting pattern is and I can help you find the correct one.
