Installing a Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
Question:
Hello, I do have a 4 pin for the trailer lights. is there a diagram on how to hardwire the P2? I received the P2 this week with a generic wiring diagram. the wires that came with the controller will not reach my battery. will i need to connect longer wire to reach the battery for the black and white wires. Also will i need to run the blue wire to the back of my vehicle? and what does that wire connect to? thanks

Since you have a your Tekonsha P2 Electric Brake Controller # 90885, the wiring you need to complete your assembly with the 4-way currently on your 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is the # ETBC7. The brake controller will require wiring as well as circuit breakers, and the 7-way wiring connector for the upgrade. All of this is included in that kit. I've included the article that will walk you through your connection as well as a video to assist. There are 4 wires that come out of your controller and two of them will connect to this additional wiring. Then the ground (white) and brake light (red) will need to be hardwired under your dash. The ground will go to a metal on metal connection and the red wire will go to the cold side of your brake switch. Cold side means that one side will have a constant 12V power (hot) and the other side only has power when the brake pedal touches the switch to allow power to transfer to the other side. So it is cold (without power) when the brake pedal doesn't make contact. You may need a circuit tester # PTW2993 to determine this.
Let me know if you need further assistance, but this kit will help you run power to your brake controller (black wire) and then to the 7-way. It will also run from your brake controller the brake output (blue wire) to your 7-way.
