Recommended Disc Brake Kit, Actuator, and Brake Lines for Tandem 8K TorFlex Axle Trailer
Question:
I have 2003 Dexter tor flex 8k axles with 12.25 electric drum brakes and 17.5 inch wheels with oil bath axles will this kit work for me and can I switch to the grease hubs, all the bearings and races are the same as what I use now only exception is the unitized seal but the diameter is the same With this kit I would rather take the hubs off and pack bearings than replacing oil seals

The Dexter Disc Brake Kit - 12-1/4" Hub/Rotor - Grease - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Coat - 8,000 lbs # K71-635-92 is a confirmed fit for your TorFlex 8K axles. This kit will work very well for you and you will need one kit for each axle. This upgrade will make a noticeable difference to your trailer. You will only need to add the brake lines and an actuator once these kits are installed.
For the electric over hydraulic brake actuator you need, I recommend the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HBA16. This will give you the correct system needed for your disc brake upgrade.
For the brake lines, I recommend the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle - 20' # 20TA-BLKIT. This will give you the flexible hoses, fittings and loom clamps to secure your system. This will give you the flexibility you need for your TorFlex axles.
Let me know if you have further questions.
