Reese Weight Distribution Set Up and Positioning of Spring Bar Brackets to the Trailer Frame

Question:

I just purchased this system and have a few questions. 1, due to a cross bracket i can not place the cams at 18 they are at 19. Because of this the cam shaft in the bracket is extend quite a bit. Is this OK? 2, The chain is slightly off vertical due to my propane tank. Is this alright as long as the cam sits properly? 2007 4 runner 2012 rockwood roo 183

My contact at Reese stated the instructions provide the user with a small area to make adjustments as needed between 18 inches and 19-3/8 inches from the center of the coupler. Also you can make sure the bracket that holds the chains are the appropriate distance from the coupler as indicated in the instructions. So at 19 inches, you are within that range.

The chains being slightly off vertical really depends on how much they are off. A few degrees off will not be a problem but if it is off quite a bit then you will need to relocate the tank, if possible. Another option is to use Chain Hangers, # RP58305 as long as your trailer frame is no thicker than 2-1/4 inches.

These hangers bolt to the side of the trailer frame so you will be able to get the proper distance and not interfere with the propane tank. Instead of using the lift handle tool, you will need to use the trailer jack to put tension on the bars when installing.
