Capacity and Mounting Location of Curt Trailer Hitch C11724 on a 1993 Honda Del Sol

Question:

The hitch information has two specifications, the one immediately below the description says tongue max weight is 200# and the hitch is rated at 2000#. The one below it gives ratings 50 and 500 #s less. Which are the correct figures? Also I would like to know what the hitch mounts to if it is a frame or sub-frame member or is it the bumper? Thank You.

Curt trailer hitch # C11724 for your 1993 Honda Del Sol is rated for 150 pounds tongue weight and 1,500 pounds gross trailer weight. The hitch mounts to the bottom of a steel beam at the center/rear of the vehicle. The beam is located inside of the vehicle rear bumper. It also attaches to the vehicle tow loop.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks and cargo carriers for you.
