Does 8870090 also work for the rear hinge replacement on the Yakima SkyBox 12?

For the Skybox and RocketBox 12, you'll need part # 8880683, which will work as both the front and rear lid support. The part (8870090) you referenced is being retired. The newer hinge that I've linked you to is universal and better at holding the lid open than previous versions.

Yakima recommends the use of a rubber mallet to get the ball into the socket of the #8880683. Since plastic is a bit more flexible when warm you might take a heat gun or blow dryer to warm everything up and allow it to fit easier.
