Weight Distribution System for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Auto Leveling Suspension
Question:
Our 2017 Grand has the tow package, along with the rear leveling suspension. Should I use a load distribution system, if so should I let the Jeep or distribution system as the main source of stability?

If your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee still sags while towing a trailer then yes you can absolutely use a weight distribution system. When installing a weight distribution system on a vehicle with self leveling suspension, you will want to first place the trailer on the vehicle and then allow the system to adjust. Once the auto leveling procedure is finished you will then want to set the springs bars on the weight distribution system until you are level. One thing to keep in mind is that a weight distribution system helps with both added weight and stability/sway.
In order to choose the correct weight distribution system you will first need to find your towing setups total tongue weight. The average total tongue weight (TW) rating of a trailer is typically 10-15% of the gross trailer weight (GTW). An easy way to find this would involve using a tongue weight scale like the Trailer Tongue Weight Scale part # e99044. When choosing a weight distribution system, you will want your total tongue weight to fall in the middle of the weight distribution weight capacity. For example, the ideal weight distribution system for a total tongue weight of 600 lbs. is one that is rated for 400-800 lbs. of tongue weight.
For a total tongue weight between 200-600 lbs I recommend using the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control part # RP66082. For a total weight between 400-800 lbs I recommend using the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control part # RP66083 and for a total weight between 600-1,200 lbs I recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control part # RP66084. For a 2-5/16" hitch ball you will want to use part # 19286.
I have included a review video of the Reese Strait-Line system for you as well.
