Recommended LED Trailer Lights to Replace Some Incandescent Trailer Lights on Large Trailer

Question:

I have an over 80inch trailer presently with a peterson PM444 and PM444 and the other lights required for over 80. Can one just replace the Peterson with one of the LED left and right lights, still run the other lights as they are and use the present wiring? In other words can you mix LED and incandescent in the same wiring or do they all need to be changed? Tired of bulb changes in the PM444

Expert Reply:

You absolutely can mix LED and Incandescent lights on your trailer. For your PM444 replacements, I recommend the Optronics Over 80" Wide, Square LED Trailer Tail Light, 7-Function, 18 Diode, Right Hand # STL2RB and Left Hand # STL3RB. The LED lights will draw less power and will also get rid of the bulb replacement hassle you mentioned.

In rare cases you may experience hyperflashing with LED lights. If this happens when you install these lights, you can simply add a load resistor like the LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors # DI34ZR on that wire function to draw the same power as an incandescent bulb.
