Changing Drum Brakes to Disc Brakes on Gooseneck Trailer

Question:

If you already have hydraulic drum brakes, then you will simply need a rotor and caliper kit for your axle capacity. For instance, if you have standard 3500 lb axles, then you can use the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs # K2HR35D. If you currently have Electric over Hydraulic Drum brakes on your trailer then the brake lines are already run and you just need to add a compatible EOH brake actuator for disc brakes like # HBA16. This upgrade is necessary because disc brakes require higher psi than drum brakes. If you do not have hydraulic brakes, then you will need an entire kit like the Titan Disc Brake Kit and BrakeRite II SD Electric-Hydraulic Actuator - Tandem, 3,500-lb Axle # T4843800. I've attached a video to assist. I've also attached a help article and am happy to assist if you have different axle sizes to ensure you get the correct parts for your conversion.

Based on that information, you will want 2 of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - Dacromet - 7,000 lbs # K2HR712D. You will also need 4 of # 25580, 4 of # 14125A, and 2 of # RG06-070. Then you will need the HydraStar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # CAR-HBA16-2. I recommend also using the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141. The cost will be available on each product page and change as manufacturer's dictate. We do however have a lowest price pledge to ensure the best price on any specific product.
