Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 1997 Tacoma

Question:

Hello, my tacoma has a 4 pin trailer harness aftermarket the convertor was at the 4 pin plug itself and has been damaged. I cut the connector off and can splice a convertor in. Which one should I get? The end goal is to connect my truck to a combo 4 pin/7 pin connector at my bumper. My tacoma had a 3 wire system and my camper is two wire. Thanks you! Also, I have a 2010 Mazda CX 9 and bought a Tekonsha brake controller. Do you have a factory plug to go from the controller to the mazdas wiring. I dont think the mazda came with a factory installed trailer wiring harness. Even so, I would think there would be some kind of connector to connect the controller to the Mazda brake switch. Thanks!!!

You will need to start with a 4-way since yours is gone now. For that you would want the # 118379.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
