Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2014 Ford F-350 with Short Bed and Factory Prep Package
Question:
2014 F350 Super Duty 6-6 box towing Grand Design 337 with gross of 13995lbs Installed the reese ford mount system with my 1 year old Pro 15k with slide bar itch. I am getting to much play in the hitch on rough roads. I am going to upgrading and considering the Reese Titan 20K, Elite 20K or BandW companion. I have a hole in the box for a goose neck but did not look under for the hitch piece. It would be nice to remove the hitch and have a nice flat floor. Thank you

It sounds like your 2014 Ford F-350 has the factory rail system or sometimes called factory pucks. Since you are getting too much play in your system, I recommend the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # C16530-16020. This will give you a clean floor as well as a nice round tube slider for easy movement without binding. This removes the extra adapter.
If you don't mind the adapter, then I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30083. This hitch has a really nice single jaw that is made to wrap around the kingpin of your trailer for a strong connection and also has the round tubes for less binding on the slide rails.
One final option will give you the freedom to stay in your cab versus making the manual sliding adjustments. For this I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide in either 18K # DM8550024 or 21K # DM8550038. This hitch automatically adjusts for turning clearance with your truck and trailer.
If you don't already have a 7-way trailer connection in the bed of your truck, you may want to consider the Demco 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug - 10' Long # DM8555002 which plugs into your factory wiring for a nice accessible connection with no splicing needed.
