Should Hydrastar HBA-10 Brake Actuator Work with Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller
Question:
We have a Carlisle Hydrastar HBA -10 operating drum brakes on our tandem axle boat trailer. The in-cab controller is a Tekonsha Voyager and this system has been operating without a problem for the last two years and provides plenty of braking. Currently when we apply the brakes and activate the controller it runs and pressurizes the Hydrastar for about 7 or 8 seconds then shuts off. We have verified that all our ground and power connections are clean and whatnot. If we pull the break away switch toggle the motor runs continually and dynamites the brakes as I assume it is supposed to do. Were now suspect that the Hydrastar has some internal problem. Have you seen this happen. Please advise!

The fact that your Tekonsha Voyager part # 39510 has worked with your Hydrastar actuator part # HBA-10 for a couple years is very impressive since it's not supposed to work with that brake style without the adapter part # HBA-CAM which is designed for adapting a brake controller not designed for electric over hydraulic brakes to work with it.
This adapter would be what you'd need to allow the controller to work properly.
