Does Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country Require Fascia Trimming

Question:

Hello, so I am trying to decide between the curt or the draw tite 2” receiver hitch.. the draw tite says that no trimming of number facia is necessary. I’m assuming that’s the bottom bumper clip? That would be on limited models like mine? Wouldn’t you still need to trim it to get the actual receiver hitch with ball in the tube framing?

Installing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75579 on a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country may require some slight trimming of the mud flap that's near the driver's side bracket. The hitch itself sits behind the fascia. I've attached a picture so you can see where it fits under the van. I've also linked the install instructions and an install video for you.

If you're going to be towing a trailer with your van you'll also need a wring harness. Use the Tekonsha # 118552 which plugs in behind both tail lights. Then there's a hot lead with a fuse holder that needs to be run to the van's battery. The required fuse is included. I've attached this install video and instructions as well.

You'll also need a ball mount and hitch ball. I've attached a link of our selection of ball mounts for a 2 inch hitch receiver as well as an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop you may need. Once you choose a ball mount you can then choose a hitch ball to fit it.

One way to make choosing a ball mount easier is to go with an adjustable ball mount like the B&W Tow & Stow # BWTS10038B. It features the ability to be flipped under the hitch when not using it and will provide up to 5-1/2 inches of rise or 5 inches of drop.

For a pin and clip to fit you can use # PC3 or if you'd like to have a locking pin you can use # BX8858.

I've also included links to some articles on towing that you might find helpful.
