Recommended Wheels, Tires, and Hubs for Flatbed Trailer  

Question:

I have an old boat trailer converted to flatbed. Bearings are bad on one side and Inwould like to convert it to 5 bolt, 14inch wheels and tires. Suggestions?

It is absolutely possible to change from a 4 bolt hub for 13 inch wheels to a 5 bolt hub compatible with 14 inch wheels. To get you the correct hubs for your axle, you will need to pull one of the hubs off your trailer and look at the number stamped on the inner and outer bearing face. If you are not able to determine the bearing number, then the next best option is to measure your spindle in those bearing locations using a digital caliper like # PTW80157. These need to be precise measurements. I've attached a photo to assist.

Then for your wheels and tires, I recommend the Karrier ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM32181 which has a load rating of 1,870 lbs at 50 psi and a max speed rating of 81 mph. These will be great tires for you as long as the overall diameter of 27 inches allows enough room for your springs to engage properly without hitting your flatbed.
