Since your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 has a 6 foot bed you're going to want a sliding fifth wheel hitch. The sliding B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 is rated up to 18,000 pounds. You need a sliding hitch because short bed trucks do not allow for turning clearance to make sharp turns. Your trailer will likely hit the cab of your Ram. The exception is if your trailer has a Revolution or Sidewinder pin box, or if it has a nose that is tapered. In this case you can use the fixed Patriot, # BWRVK3200, which is rated for 16,000 pounds.

The B&W Install Kit # BWRVR3202-00 is a semi-custom kit so some drilling into the frame is needed. However, you can use the Reese Custom Kit # RP56011-53. The outboard design of the brackets makes the install a lot easier and faster compared to other kits.
