Can a 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter be Used with a B&W Gooseneck Hitch on a 2017 Ford F-250

Question:

I just bought a 2004 Mountaineer Newmark, 38.5foot 4 slide outs. I have a 2017 ford F-250 crew cab with short box. Also installed a BandW turn over gooseneck ball. Can I use a 5th wheel to gooseneck offset to pull this with or do I need a BandW Companion Slider?

You can use a 5th-wheel-to-gooseneck adapter like the Convert-A-Ball Adapter w/ Offset # CAB-C5GX1216 which will give you an additional 7-1/2" but it does have some restrictions. For instance, most trailer manufacturers say that if this kind of adapter is used then it voids the trailer's warranty, it cannot be used with Reese Elite Series gooseneck hitches, or a Sidewinder or Revolution king pin either due to it causing multiple pivot points.

With that being said, it does have a 20,000-lb weight capacity (4,000 lbs for the pin weight), comes with a 2-year limited warranty, has a fail-safe king pin adapter built in, and is made in the USA.

To stay within the warranty of your trailer I recommend using the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3400 instead. It has a 20,000-lb weight limit (5,000-lb pin weight) and will give you up to 12 additional inches of travel. It does not have the same restrictions on pin boxes that can be used with it, is heavy-duty with a fully articulating head and a great dual-jaw system for a smooth ride. It is also made in the USA.

If you don't already have a 7-Way in the bed of your 2017 Ford F-250 then I recommend installing the Bargman # 50-97-410 to make connecting and disconnecting your trailer much easier.
