Troubleshooting Primus IQ Brake Controller TK90160 in 2010 Chevy Avalanche with P.L. Error Code

Question:

I have installed the brake controller and I am getting a code of pl.. looked at you website and trouble shoot the unit and I think it a bad unit as for what you say on the site. thanks.

Thank you for your purchase of the Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller # TK90160.

The error code P.L. indicates a power loss on the 12V circuit that feeds operating power from the vehicle battery to the controller. This power is carried on the controller's black wire.

You can check your installation for a loose connection at the back of the controller where the power wire from your 2010 Chevy Avalanche splices to it. You can also check for a loose fuse in the power distribution box on the circuit.
