Recommendation to Transport 185 cm Skis on 2016 Toyota 4Runner with Factory Roof Rack
Question:
Im trying to find a cargo box that will fit my 185 cm skis, attach to the factory crossbars on my 2016 Toyota 4runner and clear my antenna/allow for hatch clearance. I see some of the experts on this site indicate certain boxes will work while others will not. Can you please advise on this topic? Thank you in advance! Gratefully,

The only roof cargo box we have available that is confirmed to fit the factory crossbars on your 2016 Toyota 4Runner is the Thule Sidekick Roof Mounted Cargo Box # TH78GC. This is likely due to the extremely low profile design for the factory crossbars on this vehicle, as only cargo boxes that use a U-bolt attachment system will fit. This particular cargo box features 8 cubic feet of space and will not be large enough to store your skis.
To transport your skis using the factory roof rack on your 4Runner, I instead recommend looking at a ski carrier like the Thule SnowPack # TH7326. This low-profile carrier will mount to your factory crossbars and can hold up to 6 pairs of skis.
I have attached a video demonstration on this product so you can see exactly how it works.
