Difference in Curt Hitch # C11132 and Draw-Tite # 24759 for a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question:

I own a 2005 pt cruiser and need a hitch for a bike rack just wondering if you would reccomend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch #24759 or the Curt Trailer Hitch #C11132 also wondering if both hitches come with all electrical plugs

Both the Curt 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11132 and the Draw-Tite 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24759 for your 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser are very similar hitches. They both have a 200-lb tongue weight capacity. The difference in the two hitches is the Curt hitch does not require any drilling to install and the Draw-Tite requires two 1/2 inch holes to be drilled in the frame.

The Draw-Tite might take a little longer to install due to the drilling of the frame. The Curt hitch uses 4 bolts on each side but does not require drilling when installing. I am including a link to the installation instructions on both of the hitches.

Because of the way the hitches are installed, Curt will require a stabilizing strap # 18050 on their Class I hitches for non trailer loads, because they do not want any added strain to be put on that hitch. Draw-Tite does not require a stabilizing strap on their Class I hitches.

You will need to make sure to use a bike rack that will work on a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch. A Class II or higher bike rack will not fit a Class I hitch. You will also be limited to hauling two bikes on a Class I hitch.

Neither of the hitches will include any electrical plugs or wiring. The wiring harness you will need for your 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser is the Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # C55532. This harness plugs into the back of your tail lights and has a separate power wire that will run to the vehicles positive battery post through a inline 10 amp fuse to protect the vehicles sensitive electronics and wiring.

I am including a link to the instructions on the Tow Ready wiring harness.
