Can the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains 247 XG12 be Used on a P235/55-R18 Tire

Question:

I have a MB GLC with 235/60 r18 tires and a Toyota Sienna with 235/55 r18 tires. The konig fit guide suggests size 247 for the MB and 245 for the Sienna. But since the tires are pretty similar size, can i just buy one set of chains say the larger 247 and use it on both wheel sizes? Will that work? My old Konig chains seemed to fit a pretty wide range of wheels. I was surprised the fit guide here gave me two different sizes for wheels which are very similar.

You are correct in that Konig calls for the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains 245 XG12 part # TH01594245 on your P235/55-R18 tires and the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains 247 XG12 part # TH01594247 on your P235/60-R18 tires.

I spoke to my contact at Konig and they stated that as long as you do not have more than 1 finger of wiggle room underneath the chain and on top of the tire then you can use the 247 XG12 on both P235/55-R18 and P235/60-R18 tires. If you do have more than a finger of wiggle room then you cannot use the247 XG12 on the P235/55-R18 tire.

For a set of tire chains that are confirmed to work on both P235/55-R18 and P235/60-R18 tires, I recommend using the Glacier V-Trac Cable Snow Tire Chains part # PW1046. I have attached a review and installation of these tire chains for you as well.
