I will be mounting the compressor on the frame of the truck and I read that I will need a snorkel on the air inlet

A snorkel is needed when installing a compressor kit like the Firestone Air Command I part # F2158 underneath the vehicle's body. If the compressors air filter is located underneath the vehicle's body it will attract water and dirt which is not good for the compressor.

You would want to hitch your trailer up to your tow vehicle and then inflate the bags of the Air Lift Kit part #AL60769 to the point where the vehicle is leveled. So to long story short...inflate the bags after hitching up.
