Recommended Radial ST205/75-14 Tires for Car Dolly
Question:
My car dolly currently has ST205/75D14 LR-C 1760lbs load @ 50psi tires that need to be replaced. Are radial tires a good option/upgrade for a car dolly? If I opt for load range D tires, to get a stronger tire, can I stick with the 50psi for a smoother ride or inflate to rated psi of 65?

Going with a radial tire like the Kenda Karrier ST205/75R14 Trailer TIre # AM10235 to replace the bias ply tires on your tow dolly is a great idea. Radial tires will track better and run cooler than bias ply tires, meaning they will work well on your tow dolly and provide an upgrade in terms of strength while under a load.
This tire does have a Load Range D, which has a maximum load of 2,040 pounds at 65 psi. There is no issue in going with a higher load range tire, as it may allow the tire to run a bit cooler since it will not be pushed to its full capacity. Just note that this will not increase the actual weight capacity of your tow dolly, as you will still be limited by its weakest component, such as the axle or hubs. Also, trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum psi. An underinflated trailer tire will essentially be reduced to an unknown rating and can easily cause you to overload the tires. I do not recommend using a lower psi than what is listed.
If you would rather stick with the same load range as your existing tires, the Kenda Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Tire # AM10234 is my recommendation. This 6 ply radial tire features a maximum load of 1,925 pounds at 60 psi and has an excellent speed rating of 81 mph.
I have attached short video demonstrations on both of these tires for you to check out.
