Brake Controller and 6-Way Socket Installation in 2015 Honda CR-V
Question:
I have a Bunkhouse trailer that has wiring which separates the brake light and brake activation from the other circuits. In other words, the brake lights and brakes have their own wire. I may want to pull the trailer with our CR-V from time to time and wondered if you have a converter that will utilize this wiring set up and also allow for bakes and brake light activation on the trailer when towed behind the CR-V. Bunkhouse trailers have a 6-way connection, which I can supply, but only 5 of the 6 are used as the extra wire is for trailer interior accessories and not needed. Here are the Bunkhouse specs for the wiring: Green - Taillights Blue - Brake Yellow - Right Turn Brown - Left Turn White - Ground Black - Interior Light auxiliary Thanks!

The Bunkhouse trailer website does not provide wiring specs for their motorcycle-friendly camper trailers like their King LX Camper Base, nor does it indicate anything about these trailers having electric drum brakes.
Usually a 6-way wiring set-up uses round connectors like the trailer-side plug # PK11604 and vehicle-side socket # PK11609.
A trailer brake controller such as the Popular Prodigy P2 # 90885 can be installed in your 2015 CR-V by first installing a 4-pole wiring harness # 118561 (please see the linked video) and then by converting that to the 6-way round format using our kit # ETBC6. This kits allows installation of the brake controller in the CR-V and includes the vehicle-side socket, wiring and all other parts needed.
Note that 6-way wiring can be configured in either of two ways, with the center pin carrying either 12V power or the trailer brake signal. When installing this socket for use with a brake controller you will want to connect the blue wire for brake signal to the same pin on the 6-way that the trailer uses for its brakes, if it indeed has electric brakes.
Please refer to the linked article on trailer wiring.
