Recommended Pontoon Boat Guide-Ons for Pontoon Boat Trailer

Question:

What is one of your better pontoon trailer guides? I am looking at purchasing part # CE27670 but theres only 2 rear guides. Do you offer a set of 4 and if so, how necessary are 4 compared to 2?

The pontoon trailer guide-ons only come in a set of 2 as that is all that is needed, although you can add more if you believe that it is necessary. That all just depends on how confident you are about staying on the right track once you have started guiding your pontoon onto your boat trailer. You will want to position them on your boat trailer so that they span the open space on the underside of your pontoon boat (see attached picture).

There are 2 different style of guides that you can choose from; the post-style, like the part that you referenced # CE27670, and the roller-style, like part # CE27672. Although both styles have received great reviews from our customers, the post-style is definitely the most popular so that is the style that I recommend going with.

The CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Pontoon Boat Trailers # CE27670 that you referenced are 22 inches tall and fit trailer frames up to 3 inches wide x 4-1/4 inches tall. If your frame is taller than 4-1/4 inches then you can use the 2 Extra-long U-bolt Kit # CE11416 for frames up to 3 inches wide and 5-1/4 inches tall. Lock nuts and washers are not included with the extra long U-bolts but you can just use the equipment that comes with the post-style guide-ons.

You will want to make sure that the 22 inches of height is the correct height that you need for your application. You will want them to be tall enough to stick out of the water while loading your pontoon boat but not so tall that your boat gets damaged from them or damages them. If you happen to need then slightly taller then the previously mentioned roller style, part # CE27672, measures 24 inches.
