Can the Camco Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter # CAM55165 Pull 30 Amps of Power
Question:
How is this UL approved? A trailer sales person instructed one of my customers to purchase this adapter and have the breaker in the panel changed to a 30 amp. This is quite illegal and violates various electric codes.

The Camco Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter # CAM55165 that you referenced is basically meant to adapt the connector on your RV so that you can run the lights or keep your refrigerator running; it is not meant to pull a lot of power like what you would need to run the air conditioning.
I spoke with my contact at Camco who verified that the power that runs through this adapter is limited by the 15 Amp side and that at most you might be able to pull 20 Amps of power with it. The adapter was not designed to output 30 Amps worth of power. Changing a breaker to a higher Amp breaker that was not meant to replace it is definitely not a good idea and is not advisable.
