Having a Difficult Time Removing the Head of my Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch to Replace the Spring

Question:

Removing head to replace spring and lubricate parts. How do I do this? ??Pull small pin and pound out large pin in rocker arm pin?? OR???. I tried this but couldnt get the large pin to budge. ??Bigger hammer?? And, which parts do I lube with spray lithium grease? Thanks,

I spoke with my contact at Reese and he said that sometimes the pins can get lodged in the head and make it difficult to remove. He said that using a hammer to help get the pin out is necessary sometimes and would most likely work for you.

He also said that any moving parts that you can access will benefit from being lubricated with lithium grease.

If you need a replacement spring I would recommend a Replacement Spring for Reese and Draw-Tite Fifth Wheel Hitches, part # 30776.
