Recommended Sway Control for Towing Aluminum Shadow 2 Horse Trailer

Question:

Hello Would a 2013 Infinity QX56 with over 8000 lb towing capacity require a weight distribution sway control system with aluminum trailer weight of 2,975 pounds. The front V rails are aluminum, is this compatible with a WD sway control system. If so could you recommend one, ideally one that would not require drilling holes. Thanks

Based on your trailer, a weight distribution system won't work well. Because it is all aluminum you would still be protected by powder coat, but you would need to drill into the frame because it is enclosed. Based on the photo you attached, I really think you will be limited by space. Check your measurements against the trunnion bar lengths of around 30 inches. You will need brackets to fall around 25-27 inches in most cases. If you were to decide to use weight distribution, I recommend first checking with the manufacturer to see if the frame prohibits it.

I recommend you go with sway control like the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch # 83660 but avoid the weight distribution system for your application. You will need the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts - Class III and IV # RP26003 for this system.
