Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2003 Dodge Caravan
Question:
Hi, I need to wire a 2003 dodge caravan sport se for a trailer with a 7 way connector. Everything I see on etrailer is a 7 and 4 way plug. Do I need the flat 4 or is there a 7 way only kit that I can use? thank you for your time.

The Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7 includes an adapter that converts a 4-Pole trailer connector to a 7-way. If you do not already have a 4-pole on the Caravan, you will need the T-1 Harness with Tail Light Converter, part # 118376 to provide one.
If the trailer you are planning on towing has electric brakes, you will also need a brake controller to actuate them. I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The P2 is a reasonably priced controller that is our best seller, primarily because it is very easy to use.
If your trailer does not have brakes, and you only need the lighting functions on the trailer, you can simply use part # 37185 instead of the full install kit which is an adapter that would plug into the 4-pole once it is installed.
If you need to install a brake controller, we have some excellent online resources to assist with the install. I will provide links to some helpful information as well as an install video that you might find helpful. The brake controller install video shows a controller being installed on a different vehicle than yours, but the procedure would be similar.
