The red wire is most likely for the left turn/ left brake light circuit. You can confirm this by using a car battery to apply power to this circuit, and ground the negative battery terminal to the trailer frame. You can use this method to confirm the function of the other wires in the harness.

Some of the molded connectors like part # H20046 use a different wiring color code. If you click on the link to part # H20046 provided below, you will see a chart that lists the wire colors, and which function they serve.
