Testing To See If Brake Magnets Are Bad
Question:
On the axle I have voltage going to the magnet and same voltage coming out the other white wire. Is this normal or is the magnet bad?

Expert Reply:
It is not normal to have 12 volts on both wires of your magnet. One side should be hot and the other should be ground. I recommend checking your magnets for amperage using a multimeter like # PT89ZR. I've attached an article on how to use this meter to test your brake magnets. If you find that the magnets are bad, I recommend # BP01-180 for 12 inch assemblies and # AKBRKR-M10 for 10 inch assemblies.
