Can 2008 Kia Sedona Safely Pull Boat out of Water?
Question:
I am going to be towing a 16.5 foot sylvan aluminum boat. I have heard mixed stories that say I will have a problem pulling it out of the water with front wheel drive and others say the Kia Sedona does just fine. I estimate the boat and trailer to be 2,500 lbs max. Do you have any inputs on this?

The 2008 Kia Sedona has a 3.8 liter V6 with 250 hp, and while that's not a beast it's certainly capable of pulling a boat trailer out of the water with your Curt # C13345 Class III hitch, barring an abnormally steep gradient. The reason you've probably heard a number of different things is because there are many factors that can lead to problems - or lack thereof - when towing. How the vehicle was maintained, the amount of cargo it has inside and the quality of the tires will make a difference. If you are in good shape in those areas, and don't try to pull your boat out of a 80 degree incline, then it should be fine.
